Mike Smolich has been involved with the family business pretty much his entire life, starting in the wash-bay as a 14 year old. Through the years he has performed pretty much every job in the building, from parts counterman and service advisor under the tutelage of Bob Young, (our current and 42 year employee Nissan parts manager) and then onto Vehicle Sales, Sales Manager and eventually General Manager.
Hello to anyone interested enough in me to read my website biography!
I started selling cars part time while I was still attending Oregon State University (Go Beavs!) and after I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology I focused on a career in the automotive industry. I worked for Thomason Auto Group for 12 years (where I learned a ton about this crazy business!), Miles Chevrolet for 3 years, Town & Country Ford for 2 years, Lassen Chevrolet/Toyota for 5 years and now I've been here at Smolich Motors since 2009. Man, time flies when you're having fun! Over the years I've learned from many and taught many and that's been quite gratifying.
We work really hard in this business and put in some long hours, but the most important part of my life is my family. I've been blessed with a terrific wife and 3 pretty awesome kids, and they have survived the ups and downs of this career with courage and smiles. I firmly believe in balancing work and family and I continually urge my staff to "work while you're at work, but take your time off and enjoy life."
In my free time, I enjoy tennis, golf, hiking, and skiing (I do live in Bend, after all), and when I'm feeling less energetic a good book or movie does the trick. And of course, those activities are even better when family is involved!
I work for a terrific family-owned business in one of the best places on earth…I'm truly a lucky guy!
Crystal has been an employee at Smolich Motors since 2004. She first started working in the Automotive Industry in Michigan back in 2001 as a cashier/receptionist. Since then she has had several dealership roles including Title Clerk, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Safety Committee Secretary and now her current position, Administrative Accounting Assistant. When she was asked what she likes most about working at Smolich Motors her reply was: "There are so many positive things to say about Smolich Motors, in which all of them have kept me here for so long. I enjoy the family feel not only from the Smolich family themselves, but from our wonderful loyal customers who have been coming here for their automotive needs for years. Smolich is a safe place to work, they are thoroughly involved in the community, there is room for each employee to grow within the company, and they are an all around a honest dealership. I plan on retiring here!" Outside of working she enjoys attending church, exercising, lifting, martial arts, hiking and reading.
